The most authentic preparation method, as practiced in Vanuatu for 3,000 years. This method honors the cultural tradition and maximizes kavalactone extraction through intensive manual processing.


Instructions



  1. Preparation : Put 15-50g of kava into the kava filter bag

  2. Add water : 300-600ml water

  3. Kneading process : 10-15 minutes of intensive kneading and massaging of the bag

  4. Squeeze : Wring the bag firmly until no more liquid comes out

  5. Serving : Clean the bag and drink Kava

Blender method

The most popular modern preparation method, combining efficiency with good extraction. Ideal for regular kava users who want consistent results.

  1. Dosage : Add 15-50g of kava to a blender

  2. Water : 300-600ml water

  3. Mix : 4-10 minutes on highest speed

  4. Pause : Let it rest for 1 minute, then mix for another 2 minutes

  5. Filter : Strain through a kava filter

Set & forget

Cold brew extraction

A gentle, slow extraction method that produces particularly mild and balanced kava drinks. Similar to the cold-brew coffee principle.


Instructions



  1. Preparation : 40-60g Kava in filter bag l

  2. Water bath : 500ml water

  3. Soak : Leave in the refrigerator for 4-12 hours – e.g. overnight

  4. Move occasionally : Every 2 hours (optional)

  5. Strain : Remove filter and serve

Shaker method

The most practical method for on the go or when time is limited. Perfect for traveling or spontaneous kava enjoyment.

  1. Prepare shaker : Protein shaker or large water bottle

  2. Ingredients : 15-50g Kava + 300-600ml water

  3. Shake : Shake vigorously for 3-5 minutes

  4. Break : Rest for 2 minutes

  5. Shake again : Shake intensively for another 2 minutes

  6. Filter : Filter through kava or let it settle and drink carefully.

French Press Preparation

An elegant method that adapts the French press principle for kava. It combines ease of use with good extraction and natural filtration.


Instructions



  1. Add Kava : Add 15-50g of Kava to the French press

  2. Water : 300-600ml water

  3. Stir : Stir gently for 30 seconds

  4. Pull & Push : Pull the sieve up for 10 minutes and then push it down again

Hot water extract

A method that uses warm (not hot) water to speed up extraction without destroying the heat-sensitive kavalactones.


Instructions



  1. Water temperature : Heat water to 40-45°C (hand-warm)

  2. Kava bags : 15-50g Kava

  3. Soak : Soak in warm water for 5 minutes

  4. Kneading : Knead intensively for 5-10 minutes

  5. Cooling : Allow to cool to room temperature before drinking

Double extraction

A professional technique that extracts the maximum from the kava powder through two consecutive extraction cycles. This can be done using a kneading or blending method.


Instructions
1. First extraction : Standard mixer method (5 minutes)
2. Strain : Pour through filter and squeeze
3. Second extraction : Fresh water and powder from the filter bag into the blender
4. Mix again : 7 minutes on highest speed
5. Combine : Mix both extracts or drink them separately
