Bir Kar is a clear, sociable and communicative Heady variety. It combines mental lightness with noticeable calm and is particularly suited to creative activities, music, daytime use and social situations.
The name "Bir Kar" comes from the local language of Espiritu Santo and means "strong tree" - a reference to the robust nature of the plant. As a Heady variety, Bir Kar provides mental lightness, clear presence and social openness alongside noticeable calm. With the reported chemotype variants 423156, 423561 or 246513, Bir Kar offers a unique experience suitable for regular Kava users and discerning beginners alike.
The characteristic reddish stems that give Bir Kar its nickname "Red Kava" are not only visually striking, but also indicate the distinctive composition of its kavalactones. A traditional variety from the highlands of Espiritu Santo. For centuries, this noble Kava variety has accompanied the people of Vanuatu through transitions and a connection with nature. Traditional
preparation
- 15-25g Bir Kar
- 300-400ml cold water
- Kava-Mode Bag
- Large bowl – coconut shell or glass
- Put Bir Kar in the bag
- Close the bag
- Place the bag in the bowl of cold water
- Knead the bag vigorously for 10-15 minutes
- Squeeze the liquid out of the bag
- Done! Serve the first portion.
You can repeat the process a second time with another 300 ml.
The finished kava should have a milky-brown color and an earthy, slightly bitter, and slightly spicy taste. A slight tingling and numbness on the tongue indicates the activity of the kavalactones.
